Desire De Craene left Belgium for the US beginning 1900. Place of departure was 'Edos' (???, unknown to me). He came back to Belgium to visit his sister in 1922 and went to the US in 1922. He lived in Philadelphia and was single.
We assume he was born in Ronse (Belgium).
We know he had a relationship in Belgium. Who, where???

Every bit of information is wellcome.

Kind regards, Danny Mattens

If you have a date of birth, search in the Ronse birth records (Geboorten). If you don't know the exact date, search the decennial tables first (Tienjarige tafels).

There are multiple Désiré DE CRAENE out there. This one looks like he could be the one you are looking for, born in Eeklo on 5 MAY 1878 and naturalized in Philly in 1913.

If this is him, here's a passport photo:

In that case, here is his birth record (#112)
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9B27-JPK
father Bernard DE CRAEN, mother Rosalie BRAL
My flemish is very rusty but I think they are both age 31 (born 1846-47), she was born in Eeklo, he was born in Waerschoot(?).

Looking at the decennial table, you find marriage #41 in 1877
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33SQ-GB27-J3H

This leads to the marriage record #41. I can only half read it. Let's hope someone can translate it for you.

Good morning Eric,

I am wondering if he married in the US.
I know he emigrated together with a son (Oscar Pynckels) of his brother-in-law. His sister Augusta also emigrated to the US. He lived with his sister in Philly.

All information you have on this man is wellcome.

In his naturalization docs (1913), he is not married. In his draft registration card (1918), he lives with his sister Augusta. His passport application (1920) does not mention a spouse. He plans to visit another sister in Belgium.

In 1910, he is single, boarding in Philadelphia: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MGDG-S3G

He arrives in NY on 25 APR 1906 on the SS Finland sailing from Antwerp, accompanied by 9-year-old child Oscar DE CRAENE. His contact is brother-in-law C Pynckels in Paterson NJ.

He arrives in NY on 28 SEP 1922 on the SS Finland sailing from Antwerp. Funny that it's the same ship.

There's a Charles Pinckels in Paterson in 1910 and 1920 with a son Oscar. He and his wife Emma immigrated in 1905. I suspect it's the same Oscar. That means Désiré has a sister Emma born ca 1875.

Given his age, I doubt he had any descendants. I haven't found his trace after 1922.
