Hello forum and members and thank you for invitation.
Few days ago I was able to find on geneanet (after long period of time) some info on my ancestor. I was so happy to learn about him. I was able even to find some digital copies of his marriage certificate and spouse's death record. Unfortunatelly all is written in old French language that I can't read. I'm fluent in English, Polish and Russian. I can offer my help in case someone needs to transcode or translate but this time I need your help. Anybody who has access to family search database

Record nr 100 - marriage Ignace Rozanski with Jeanne Marie

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:W54D-YP6Z

Record nr 164 - death of Jeanne Marie

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:734T-KCT2

all I need is to have this texts transcoded from French into French in digital format.

Auberive (Haute Marne), Extract of the death register for year 1875
On 9 DEC 1875, Nicolas ARNOULT, 53, and Charles LESPRIT, 37, both administration employees residing in Auberive, declared that yesterday 8 DEC 1875 at 10am Jeanne Marie MERMET-GRANDPIERRE, 49, born in Bouchoux, arr de St Claude (Jura), retailer of dry goods, married to Ignace ROSANSKI, residing in Chalon-sur-Saône (Saône-et-Loire), daughter of Jean Roland MERMER and Marie Rose PERRIER, died in Auberive.
A copy of the act was sent to the mayor of Chalon-sur-Saône to transcribe in the registers of said town.
Transcribed on 29 DEC 1875 by the Etat Civil officer.

You might find the original in the Haute Marne archives, but it won't contain any more info.

OMG, Mr. Eric that was super fast !!! Thank you so much for this translations. Great findings ! I'm impressed. Another step forward in my research.

How can I find more info about Ignace Rozanski? I think he never returned to Poland and probably died in France. Any National Archives?

He moved a lot, which makes it harder to locate. I recommend putting all the info found so far in your tree and see what you can find through Geneanet's correspondances first. Add the French spelling of the names as aliases.

Then look for Hélène's death (15 MAR 1868, Chalon-sur-Saône), which should give you her place of birth which is probably also the place of their marriage. That marriage certificate should contain info to locate Sophie's death. That should give you a good indication of Ignace's whereabouts through his life.

Since Jeanne died in Auberive in 1875 when Ignace was 65, I would check the decennial tables of that town to see if you can find his death. Also check the place of residence of his children.

You might be able to find naturalization documents, but I'm not so familiar with those. See https://fr.geneawiki.com/index.php/Naturalisation for guidelines.

Once you've identified the places where Ignace lived, you can look through the census of each location for more info.

The first marriage record included some more info about Poland. I'll see if I can sharpen the image to read it better.

I took another look at the first wedding. Ignace lives in St Amand since MAY 1835 and in (unreadable, assuming in France) since 15 MAR 1833. He wasn't able to get a copy of his birth records because of political problems in Poland.

I may take you up on your offer for help with Polish records one of these days. ;-)

Eric
sure, I'm open to help

BTW. The French archives are rich in content. I was able to google search and there is an info from the 1875-1876 he was a grocery sells-man (épicier, mercier) in this town. Wow!

https://www.archives71.fr/_depot_cg71_imgs/AD71EAD/6U_Chalon.pdf (page 79) (6 U 685)

at his age he might stay there for good, and just by searching "ignace rozanski chalon-sur-saône, saône-et-loire, france" I see there is hope for more ROZANSKI names in that city ! I wish

another one is this one: https://www.archives-de-france.fr/ville.php?insee=88310
but I can't access there from my side ;(

I created a separate topic for my research to avoid mixing discussions: https://www.geneanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=697216
Whatever you can find is welcome.

French records are indeed very detailed and informative. But online availability varies greatly by department.

The 6 U 685 document is for "Faillites et liquidations judiciaires" (bankrupcy and liquidations) for the year 1875 (although the proceedings may have concluded in 1876). You probably could get that document in the archives but probably not online.

The second link seems to be a click farm to get more ad views. I took a quick look at the source code and the links aren't real.

Hello again,

continuing my research on Ignace some good people gave me a tip to look for the list of foreign soldiers at French Army at:

Service Historique de l’Armee de Terre
Service Historique de la Défense

https://www.servicehistorique.sga.defense.gouv.fr
https://www.siv.archives-nationales.culture.gouv.fr/siv/cms/content/helpGuide.action?uuid=dcd6df2b-b9e7-4768-825d-12949f7f90ac
https://french-genealogy.typepad.com/genealogie/2009/08/the-military-archives-of-chateau-de-vincennes.html

does anyone knows how to navigate those pages to find Ignace Rozanski (around 1834 Chalon) - please advise me
