I am new to this software and recently uploaded my Family Tree from Ancestry.com. I show an error code that states I have a relative that is related to himself. How do I fix this? I can not access the relative without getting caught in the loop.

Thanks for any assistants!

Hello,

You should correct the information on your Ancestry tree first, otherwise you will overwrite it next time you will import a GEDCOM file to Geneanet.

To correct it on Geneanet, you must first delete the root:

Thank you but how do I know where the Loop exists? Do I have to reload the Ancestry Tree I imported? Or do you mean I need to fix my tree on Geneanet?

Sorry I am confused.

Loop in database: Pierre.1 Bourbeau dit Lacourse is his/her own ancestor.
As I said, you should correct the mistake on your Ancestry tree, otherwise you will overwrite it next time you will import a GEDCOM file to Geneanet.

If you don't plan to import your GEDCOM file to Geneanet again, then you can correct the tree here: to do this, first delete the root. Note that deleting the root doesn't delete the person who's the root, he/she is no longer the root.

In your family tree:
- Jean-Baptiste Bergeron (1676-1753) is the son of Andre Bergeron (1642-1712) who is the son of Pierre Bergeron (1716-1734) (note that it's not possible) who is the son of Jean-Baptiste Bergeron (1676-1753).
- Pierre Bourbeau dit Lacourse (1648-1710) is the son of Elijah "Helie" Bourbeau (1596-1661) who is the son of Catherine Mabye (1549-1617) who is the daughter of Marie Jeanne Bourbeau dit Lacourse (1679-1722) (note that it's not possible) who is the daughter of Pierre Bourbeau dit Lacourse (1648-1710)

We don't accept loops on Geneanet.

I have made the correction in your Geneanet family tree.

You can now go to https://en.geneanet.org/compare/ to find more information and ancestors.

As already said, if you don't make the correction in your Ancestry.com family tree, you will overwrite the correction I made in Geneanet next time you will import a GEDCOM file. And we will not make the correction again.
Best wishes,
